The Birth: An International Collaboration
Founded in 2009, Smart Internet Systems S.A. was born as an international collaboration between partners in France, Costa Rica, and the United States. Our purpose has always been to create innovative, accessible technologies that connect communities and businesses through transparent and intelligent digital platforms. Over time, this vision evolved into a network of advanced marketplaces and information systems operating under the SmartCR umbrella.
Our Team
Our team is composed of members from France, Costa Rica, and the United States, bringing together diverse perspectives and strong technical foundations. Originating from a core in software engineering, Smart Internet Systems has progressively expanded its expertise by collaborating with specialists in marketing and sales. These collaborations strengthen both the promotion of our own websites and the licensing of our SaaS-based platforms to external partners.

Multi-Directional Marketplace
Our marketplace engine enables two-way and one-to-many interactions between users, vendors, and organizations — allowing them to buy, sell, request, or offer products and services within the same ecosystem. This component is modular: on some sites it is the core driver of activity; on others it plays a supporting role alongside directories or content.
Local Information
We integrate location-based content—guides, points of interest, events, neighborhoods/destinations, and practical info—to connect users with their surroundings and improve discovery. At the center of this component are our smart interactive maps, which allow users to explore and visualize information dynamically. While some websites rely heavily on this local layer to promote discovery, tourism, or real estate, others use it less, focusing instead on specific industries or on facilitating direct commercial interactions such as product listings, service requests, or bookings.
Industry-Specific Data
Each platform can load domain-tailored taxonomies, templates, and attributes (e.g., automotive, financing, construction, tourism, surfing, etc.) to structure information and power relevant search and filters. The depth of this layer is configurable: some sites are highly verticalized with deep attributes, while others maintain a broader, cross-industry scope.
Business Directory
A curated, searchable directory of companies and professionals with profiles, contact options, and trust signals. Each business is carefully assigned a set of vendor categories that define its activity areas, ensuring accurate classification and visibility across the platform. Our services maintain a minimum 99.9% availability under enterprise-grade SLAs. Every platform is 100% responsive and browser-accessible, requiring no application installation.
